Abstract

The behaviors emitted in interpersonal situations, considered as social skills, can be indicators of interpersonal adjustment and mental health. Thus, several studies in the field of Social Skills Training have been carried out with the purpose of evaluation, creation of training programs for these skills, as well as the evaluation of the effectiveness of interventions. The present study aimed to identify children's social behaviors considered relevant for a good socio-emotional development from the point of view of primary school teachers. A social skills assessment questionnaire was administered to 73 teachers from 5 primary schools in the city of Maputo. The results reveal an appreciation of all classes of social behaviors, with an emphasis on empathy, assertiveness, academic social skills and civility classes. It was also possible to verify a variation in the level of importance attributed to each social skill as a function of the sociodemographic characteristics of the teachers.[1]
