Abstract

The decisive nexus of art theory in Luigi Pareyson consists in metaphysics of artistic creation. In the text we propose here, the core of the question is the being that happens - Happens - does not mean for Pareyson the Heideggerian Ereignis, but the happens in art and in the person. It is in art, that the theory of formativity can be understood where all human operation is a making of forms gathered in the notion of work-form. The aspects of human operativity have an essential character of formativity, becoming concrete in a happening that results in works. But it is only by becoming form that the work happens, in its unrepeatable reality; separated from its author and acquiring its own life, in its indivisible unity, opening itself to the demand and the recognition of its unique and unrepeatable value. Formativity is artistic production, making-invention-event until its public reception. Aesthetic experience and concrete experience go hand in hand. The artist, when creating, invents totally new laws and rhythms through a free choice suggested by both cultural tradition and the physical world, a happening whose decoding occurs through the artist's perseverance and dedication. It is inferred, therefore, that the core of formativity is the direct recurrence to experience. It is in this sense that throughout the text, the receptive, inventive, and productive vision will be evidenced, simultaneously; the happening follows the integrity of the formation of the work of art and the idea of Work-form; the making-creation of art and its inseparability.
