Ethics of Publication

Griot : Revista de Filosofia is committed to the quality and ethical procedures of its publications, from submission to publication of texts. The journal does not accept behaviors/acts that represent deviations from academic conduct, whether from editors, authors or evaluators. In this sense, Griot : Revista de Filosofia advises authors, evaluators and their editors to know and follow the guidelines and recommendations of Elsevier and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors of the Committee on Publication Ethics - COPE on the publication process. Based on these guidelines and recommendations, Griot : Revista de Filosofia presents the following statement:

 Duties of the Editors

 - Ensure the "double blind" peer review of texts submitted to Griot : Revista de Filosofia, with exemption and impartiality;

- Evaluate the articles submitted by their intellectual content and based on the guidelines of the journal, without distinction of sex, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, nationality, or political philosophy of the authors.

- Always decide on the basis of the opinions and according to the policies and guidelines of the journal, which articles submitted should be published;

- Maintain confidentiality in relation to information related to the articles submitted, not to disclose them, except to the reviewers and editorial directors, as the case may be;

- Do not use in your own research, unpublished content published in a submitted manuscript, without the express consent and writings of the author.

- Refuse to evaluate manuscripts in which you have conflicts of interest for competitive, collaborative or other relationships or links with any of the authors, companies or (possibly) institutions related to the manuscripts.

- Be aware of cases of suspected academic misconduct in the texts submitted and/or published, in order to investigate them, evaluate them and take appropriate measures.

 Duties of Peer Reviewers/Referees 

 - Contribute to editorial decisions and improvement of manuscripts, through review and communication with editors.

- Maintain punctuality and, if you do not feel qualified to analyze and evaluate the article or know that your immediate reading will be impossible, you should immediately notify the editors.

- Treat the articles received for analysis as confidential documents. It should not be shown or discussed with others.

- Be objective and express your point of view or opinion always clearly and based on arguments;

- Identify published papers not mentioned by the authors. Notify publishers of substantial similarity or overlap between the article in question and any other published work of which they have personal knowledge;

- Keep confidential and never use for your own benefit, information or ideas obtained by reading the articles. Do not evaluate articles in which you have conflicts of interest resulting from competition, collaboration or other relationships or links with any of the authors, companies or institutions linked to the article.

 Duties of Authors 

 - Present accurate reports of the research carried out and an objective discussion of its meaning. Accurately display the complementary data. The article should contain sufficient references and details, capable of allowing others to replicate the work. These are unethical and unacceptable behavior, fraudulent or intentionally inaccurate statements.

- Make sure the article is original. If you use work and/or text of others that is properly cited. It is unethical behavior and unacceptable any form of plagiarism.

- Do not publish articles that, in essence, describe the same research in more than one journal. They are unethical and unacceptable behaviors, send to more than one journal at the same time and/or publish the same article in more than one journal;

- Always recognize the work of other authors. Always mention the publications that were important in determining the nature and results of the reported study. Information obtained in particular, should only be used or reported with written permission from the source; and those obtained through confidential services, must be used through the explicit written permission of the author of the work involved in these services;

- Limit the authorship of the article to those who made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution or interpretation of the reported study; list as author all those who contributed significantly; list as collaborators those who participated in certain aspects of the research; ensure the inclusion of all co-authors and certify that they have seen and approved the final version of the work and agreed to their submission for publication;

- Disclose in the article any type of financial or other conflict, capable of influencing the results or interpretation of its work; disclose all sources of financial support for the project;

- Immediately inform the editor of the journal, error or inaccuracy found in its published work and cooperate in order to correct these errors or inaccuracies.
