The position of the exile in reading diaries over time:
the cases of Inaldete Pinheiro de Andrade and Bertolt Brecht

Reading diaries span time, transforming the reactions, dialogues, and thoughts formed through their authors' readings into literary documents that reinforce their opinions and, in particular, their stance on certain topics. When these diaries are linked to newspaper articles, they develop a historical perspective on what is happening or has happened in the world. This is the case of Bertolt Brecht, with his Working Diaries (2004), and Inaldete Pinheiro de Andrade, with her Escritos das Escravidões (2021). Each, in their own era, nationality, race, and specific themes, transforms these readings into a dialogue with their time, in the same shared quest: to rethink and reconstruct History. In this article, we bring Foucault's (1983) theories on self-writing and biopolitics, as well as Didi-Huberman's (2017) theories on the position of the exile, with the intention of investigating how the authors and their reading diaries have approximations, given their intrinsic distances.
