This text aims to make a comparison between Generative Linguistics and Use-Based Linguistics, highlighting differences and similarities with regard to the architecture of linguistic knowledge, the specificity of linguistic knowledge and the mechanisms of language acquisition. Based on these questions and based on theoretical reviews, we oppose and relate the two theories, focusing on the ideas defended by Noam Chomsky, concerning the generative perspective, and the ideas of Michael Tomasello, related to the perspective based on use.
