Abstract

The present study aimed to analyze how the use of art and artistic resources can contribute to therapeutic interventions, contributing to a reflection on the artistic potential for the understanding of human beings, based on their experience and as a reinvention of life. The methodological framework was the qualitative paradigm and had the participation of six Psychology professionals, with specialization in Art Therapy and Psychodrama from different regions of the country, of different age groups and graduation times. The construction of the data took place through interviews via the Zoom platform using a semi-structured script. The results allowed the construction of six categories:  The encounter with art and choice as a therapeutic resource in professional practice; Training – Art therapy and psychodrama; Artistic work and creativity; Artistic resources in the psychotherapeutic process; Depression, the “Disease of the Century” and the contribution of art in the therapeutic process. In this study, it was evidenced that art works as a mediator in the therapist's communication with the subjectivity of his patient/client, enabling a better understanding of his contextual issues to lead him to self-knowledge and in the elaboration of contents in a way that provides new ways of face certain conflicting situations in their daily lives.
