Abstract

The research aims to analyze the chemical composition and antibacterial activity of coconut oil used for skin treatment. To carry out this research, laboratory analyzes were used, where phytochemical and antimicrobial analyzes were carried out, in the phytochemical analyzes qualitative and quantitative analyzes were carried out, for the qualitative analysis it was carried out by specific regents for each secondary metabolic group, allowing the verification of alkaloids, flavonoids and tannins being alkaloids and tannins. For the quantitative analysis, the UV/VIS spectrophotometer was used. For the antibacterial analysis, carried out in the microbiology laboratory of the Hospital Central de Nampula, Escherchiacoli and Staphyococcusaureus bacteria were analyzed in the MacConkey agar culture medium and incubated for 1 day. The analyzes showed a higher concentration of tannins and alkaloids with concentrations of 16.12 0.003 μg/mL 12.75 0.0010 μg/mL, respectively, statistically, the concentrations of alkaloids and tannins present significant differences, it was verified that the oil made cold was able to fight the two bacteria in concentrations of 500μL/mL and 750μL/mL, having been concluded that the oil made in cold has good antibacterial activity.
