Abstract

The goal of this work is discuss the development of international relationship focusing on the alliance between Brazil and United States before and during World War II. Before the beginning of the war the Brazil governed by Vargas had a pendular diplomacy with the United States and Germany, countries that has faced each other in the war. With the approach of the combats Brazil had been positioning itself alongside to the United States and distancing from Germany. With this alliance Getúlio Vargas and Oswaldo Aranha, Minister of Foreign Affairs between 1938 and 1944, have sought an industrial development for the country, as well the strengthening and upgrading of the Armed Forces of Brazil and a position of greater prominence in the international post-war scene .
