In the footsteps of dissimulation: notes on bourgeois, totalitarian, and invisible ideology according to Claude Lefort

The article aims to present Claude Lefort's reflection on ideological discourse as something congenital to the institution of modern societies. This means discerning ideology as a representation of the social imaginary where myth and religion no longer exercise a preponderant explanatory function on the origins and purposes of the human community. Coming to the surface at the end of the 1970s, a historical moment in which the “end of ideologies” was declared, Lefort's reflection makes an important contribution to the renewal of the theoretical debate on the logic of functioning and the figures of ideology, among which stand out as bourgeois, totalitarian and invisible.
